What a chatbot does well
Give it a lecture, ask for ten MCQs, get ten MCQs. For a quick self-test on one topic tonight, a general assistant is a perfectly good tool, and it is flexible about format.
What you have to do yourself
| Panic Bank | General chatbot | |
|---|---|---|
| Question format | Clinical SBA by default, tagged High-yield, Standard or Detail | Whatever your prompt asks for |
| Where it lives | Per lecture, in your library, with flashcards and notes | In a chat thread you scroll back through |
| When to review | Spaced repetition schedules every question and card | You decide, and you have to remember |
| Active recall | Lockdown hides the options until you recall | The answer is usually printed underneath |
| Corrections | Report a wrong item and it is hidden for your year | Re-prompt and hope |
| OSCE and spotting | Voice OSCE patient (paid); spotting decks | Not structured for it |
| Your class | University library, leaderboard, The Arena | None |
The honest version
Panic Bank uses AI models too — the value is the workflow around them: consistent exam-format questions, a schedule that brings them back before you forget, and a way to revise a whole term’s lectures without managing hundreds of chat threads. If you only need a quick quiz, a chatbot is fine. If you are revising forty lectures for finals, you want a system.
Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT make SBA questions from my lecture notes?
Yes. General assistants can write MCQs or SBAs from a lecture. What they do not do by default is keep them as a bank, schedule them with spaced repetition or hide the answers for active recall — which is what Panic Bank adds.
Are AI-generated questions accurate?
They are written only from the lecture you uploaded and tagged for clinical importance. Flashcards also pass through a second, text-only editor that repairs a vague card without changing its answer. If anything is still wrong, any student can report it, and a wrong question or card is hidden for the whole year. It is still AI, so check anything that surprises you against your lecture.
Is Panic Bank free?
It is free to start and does not ask for a card. New accounts get a 3-day trial of the Core plan, and the free tier keeps a daily review allowance after that. Paid plans unlock unlimited review, the Teller (Ask-AI), the mock exam and OSCE practice.
