SBA questions written from your own lectures

For medical students with a folder of lecture PDFs and an exam set from them.

The short answer

Panic Bank writes clinical single-best-answer (SBA) questions from the lecture PDF you upload — about 25 from a typical lecture, 15–45 depending on length — each tagged High-yield, Standard or Detail. It also makes flashcards and full notes from the same lecture, and brings everything back with spaced repetition until your exam.

Disclosure

We make Panic Bank, so weigh what we say accordingly. We name other tools fairly, including ones that compete with us, and say where Panic Bank is not the right pick.

What happens when you upload a lecture

  1. Upload the PDF your lecturer posted — or add one a classmate already uploaded from your university library. A lecture someone has already deposited comes back instantly, free.
  2. Choose what to make: SBA questions, flashcards, full notes and a Recap.
  3. Practise. Questions arrive one clinical case at a time. Lockdown hides the options until you have recalled the answer, and every option is explained.
  4. Spaced repetition takes over. What is due comes back on its own, right before you would forget it.

Why questions from your own lectures?

Most medical schools set written exams from their own teaching. A stock question bank is written for a different curriculum — often a US or UK licensing exam — so it can drill material your faculty never covered and skip what your lecturer spent twenty minutes on. Questions written from your slides test what you will actually be examined on.

It is also faster than writing flashcards yourself: making good cards from a 50-slide lecture takes an evening; uploading it takes a minute.

How quality is handled

  • Questions are written only from your lecture, and each carries a clinical-importance tier: High-yield, Standard or Detail.
  • Flashcards pass through a second, text-only editor that repairs a vague card without changing its answer.
  • Any student can report a question or card; a wrong one is hidden for the whole year.

Honest limitations

  • PDF only — no pasted text, handwritten-note photos or video.
  • No export to Anki.
  • Not written for the USMLE; use a board question bank for that.
  • Lectures you upload are shared with your university library.

Frequently asked questions

What can I upload?

A lecture PDF. A typical lecture comes back as about 25 SBA questions (15–45 depending on length), plus flashcards, full notes and a Recap. Pasted text, photos of handwritten notes and video are not accepted. You can also add lectures your classmates have already uploaded from your university library.

Are AI-generated questions accurate?

They are written only from the lecture you uploaded and tagged for clinical importance. Flashcards also pass through a second, text-only editor that repairs a vague card without changing its answer. If anything is still wrong, any student can report it, and a wrong question or card is hidden for the whole year. It is still AI, so check anything that surprises you against your lecture.

Does Panic Bank use spaced repetition like Anki?

Yes, with nothing to set up. Questions are scheduled on SM-2 — the algorithm Anki started with — and flashcards on FSRS, the newer scheduler Anki also offers. There is no export to Anki, so treat it as its own system.

Is Panic Bank free?

It is free to start and does not ask for a card. New accounts get a 3-day trial of the Core plan, and the free tier keeps a daily review allowance after that. Paid plans unlock unlimited review, the Teller (Ask-AI), the mock exam and OSCE practice.

Who can see what I upload?

Your Ink notes and notebooks are private. Lectures you upload are shared with your university’s library (or a public pool) so classmates can reuse them, and they stay there if you delete your account, because other students depend on them. Upload only lectures you are happy to share with your year.
